Banks' ESG questionnaires: how to answer once
What bank questionnaires really ask and how to build a single data base that answers them all, instead of filling each one in again.

If your company has renewed a credit line recently, it has probably already seen a bank ESG questionnaire: questions on consumption, emissions, certifications, governance. It is not a passing phenomenon: banks integrate this data into credit processes. The good news is that the questionnaires are almost all alike, and you can answer once.
Why banks send them
Banks must assess the climate and environmental risks of their portfolios and collect data from the companies they finance. The questionnaire is the tool with which they pass the collection on to the client. Answering badly or late does not blow up the credit line overnight, but it enters the overall picture of the relationship, and conditions are built there too.
What they ask, in practice
The recurring core: energy consumption and supply mix, Scope 1 and 2 emissions (increasingly also Scope 3), waste management, exposure to the physical climate risks of the sites, any reduction targets, certifications and governance. These are exactly the indicators covered by the VSME ESG report: it is no coincidence, the standard was born for this.
The strategy: one database, many answers
The typical mistake is to treat each questionnaire as a project of its own: you recalculate, you refill, you lose track. The efficient strategy is the reverse: you build the ESG VSME report once with data traced document by document, and from there you fill in each questionnaire reusing indicators and evidence. With Envify the report and the evidence are exported in a few clicks, and EVA helps find the right data for each question.
